Grabbin' Grasshoppers
Inventors: Bill & Karen Seidel
Grabbin' Grasshoppers
Bill Seidel and his wife Karen knew the Toy Fair was coming
up in just a few weeks. Over the last several years Bill had
developed excellent contacts in the Toy Industry…it was time
to put their collective creativity to the test.
With the Toy Fair fast approaching, Karen and Bill
developed, designed and mocked-up an action game called Grabbin'
Grasshoppers. This game utilized fun and lively, jumping grasshopper-like toys that you had
to catch the most
of in order to win. It utilized a lot of action, hand-eye coordination and
screaming fun – a perfect combination for a
game.
Bill took it to the Toy Fair and it was a hit. Tyco Toys
licensed it quickly and offered it the next year. It sold well
earning nearly $14 million in sales and brought Bill and
Karen enough money to buy a home for their family in the Napa
wine country.
Today Grabbin' Grasshoppers is being positioned for a
re-release. Stay tuned for a retailer near you….
